The apocalypse has to officially start sometime, and unlike many tea leaf readers believed, the recent total solar eclipse was anything but the bingo date. The interested folks treated it like a sporting event. Animals at most were a bit puzzled, but then carried on eating, sleeping, and other things. And NASA launched a rocket experiment “to probe how Earth’s upper atmosphere is affected when sunlight momentarily dims over a portion of the planet.”
The odd thing about this experiment was its name “APEP,” or “Atmospheric Perturbations around Eclipse Path.” This acronym “APEP,” is also the name of an ancient Egyptian serpent god that swallowed the sun, to paraphrase the NASA site.
Is it a bizarre coincidence a name for the technical aspects of a science project was also for the ancients that worship a snake stealing life from the sun?
Or did the space cowboys at NASA compromise the true aspects of the project to make the acronym fit the name of a serpent god?

Getting back to tea leaf readers, adding mystic symbolism to science fuels their speculation. Even if the apocalypse is on the way, I can’t prove it, but the folks that believe they can are riding high on dark names like “APEP.”
