I refuse Zelda’s plan, sort of.

Sept 2026

Dear Zelda,

Thank you for returning my letter, or email as you wish. I understand you need justice after being replaced with another woman. But I insist she looks similar to you, though you’d like to believe otherwise. Keep in mind I see appearance as a fingerprint, which is distinct in detail yet on first glance can be identified as one like any other.

I said Jules found a new squeeze that reminds me of you, not that she is your twin sister. During my afternoon stroll around town I have passed men who remind me of myself, yet I have never taken offence to the likenesses. You are wrong to be insulted. I’m not saying Jules is trying to replace you with the same make and model. You are one of a kind, which is why I married you.

As to your request that I hire the angelic little sister of your former squeeze who helped break us up, the answer is almost no. Little do you know, Margaret has already been around to drop off a resume while job hunting in the area. I can confirm she is who she is because she shares the last name and facial traits as Jules.

One strange thing about her resume was the official letterhead of city hall on it. I asked her why it was there, and she said her dear friend Mayor Messy Marvin was helping her start. Now, 99% of the time, I have nothing to say about politicians. But this hair-brained jackass has earned my anger with his annoyingly useless antics as mayor of The Mysterious Bluffs.

I asked Margaret why she would seek help from a fool hardy despot that will only do her harm in the end. She said that I didn’t know him personally, and he was very sweet to her. I’m sure there are details as to why she is fond of him, which brings me to why I am saying almost no to your request.

I am going to hire Margaret, but not for the sake of your revenge on Jules. Instead, I will help guide her away from the treacherous egomaniac we call Mayor Messy Marvin. If you truly desire revenge on Jules, remember how special our relationship was once upon a time. We should try to see each again, and if one day Jules finds out he was the reason you rediscovered the better man, you will have plenty of revenge.

Love and Hugs,
Micheal
